Appearance[]

Personality[]

Kurama is curious and creative, and has been since his childhood. He can be insensitive and Machiavellian when dealing with difficult problems, which he demonstrated when he threw away Yase's favorite doll in an attempt to reach their mother.

Kurama serves as the de facto leader of the Council of Three and commands an organization of researchers dedicated to managing the Mirror Capital. This is not only because he is a skilled inventor, but also because he feels a responsibility for using his skills to help the people around him.

His sense of responsibility for the well-being of his siblings and his curiosity about the world outside the Mirror Capital lead him to develop a plan to break the barrier between worlds and reunite the members of his family. However, he does not share the details of this plan with his siblings.

Relationships[]

Yase[]

Shortly after Inari and the elder Koto left the Mirror Capital, Kurama threw Yase's rabbit doll onto the train that removes trash from the Mirror Capital. The doll was a gift from the elder Koto, and Kurama hoped that sending it to another world would help her find her way back to her children. This plan did not work, leading Yase to hold a grudge against Kurama for the thousand years before the arrival of the younger Koto to the Mirror Capital. When the younger Koto arrived, she had the doll with her; when Yase saw that the doll had returned, she realized that she and her siblings might have a chance to see their mother again, and she began to regain her trust in Kurama.

Myōe[]

Though Kurama and Myōe are not shown interacting very much, in Episode 9, Kurama shows a great understanding of the how Myōe has suffered. After Inari attempts to destroy the Mirror World, Kurama and Myōe are trapped together under a pile of debris. Myōe becomes extremely pessimistic and says he sees no point in moving forward because things will only get worse. Kurama stops Myōe and explains that the Council of Three had always been a "cradle" for Myōe, meant to help him along until he was ready to rule on his own. He calls Myōe by his original name, "Yakushimaru," and tells him "To long for the future doesn't mean you betray the past." He encourages Myōe to pursue a future of his own choosing, rather than one chosen for him by Inari or his sense of obligation to his original family.
